Company News

April 24, 2007
It is time for some house cleaning, there
are things that have been on the site for several years. I
will start working on getting everything corrected, updated and some
additions in the next few days. There really is quite a bit of
news in spite of the fact that I did not get any major projects done
over the winter as I had hoped to.

I just added some links on the options page to show the Tubus
cargo rack and the Tubus with Ortlieb panniers
installed on a Slipstream. There are also a couple of photos of custom
water bottle mounts on a Slipstream, WB 1
and WB 2. Also re-established some
other links which had lost.

added a few comments by real Longbikes owners, not just the opinion of a quick
magazine review. Speaking of magazine reviews, check out the next issue
of Recumbent and Tandem Rider, and
one day soon we will get a Slipstream to Recumbent
Cyclist News for Bob to review.
Recent quotes
from a few Slipstream owners, which arrived in the email totally
unsolicited. I thought real riders comments just might
interest anyone looking into a new bike:
Greg,
I've
been busy with the Holidays and haven't gotten around to writing you
about my new Slipstream. I
really like the bike! Unfortunately,
I've only been out a few times since I received it.
The construction and machine work are exceptional and the
ride quality is better that I was expecting even in a long wheelbase
bike.
The
custom dropout for the Rohloff
hub is working great. I
don't expect to ever have a problem with it since the material is
more than sufficiently strong.
The ability to use the OEM style hub plate on Rohloff hub
makes for a much cleaner installation than using a torque arm.
In addition, the rear wheel is much easier to remove.
I
replaced the front bar end shifter with a GripShift Halfpipe long
barrel shifter. With
the Rohloff hub I don't use the
front shifter very often and the GripShift makes room to use a bar
end mirror on the left side. I'm
currently looking at ways to extend the length of the Rohloff
shifter grip to match the GripShift and make it easier to sift.
Do
you have any printed brochures or business cards that I can carry
with me? From my
experience with my other recumbents I expect to have quite a few
people ask me about the bike. I
usually carry something with me to hand out to let people know about
recumbent bikes and where to get them.
This
is certainly the highest quality bike I've owned and I'm very
pleased with the purchase.

"The
"WOW" factor from folks who have seen my bike (new yellow
Slipstream) is amazing."

Dear Greg,
We spoke the
other day about my new Slipstream. A fantastic bike and I am
thrilled to ride it. If you are interested, I posted a story
about how I came to purchase the
bike (and chose it over the Gold Rush, Rans V2 and Lightning
P38) on the BROL website in the "new to recumbency" forum.
Keep up the good work!

Greg:
I
finally got a chance to ride the new Slipstream down at Recumbent
Central. I have to tell you that I’m incredibly impressed with the
new bike. The biggest problem is that I want to replace MINE with
the new one! I love the new seat, though I’m sure I’ll stay with
mine till I wear it out. I love the disk brakes, they’re a VERY
nice addition…
I
have to say, as smooth as my bike is, the new one felt even better.
I don’t think that’s just because it’s new, I believe you’ve
made some good changes.
I
still want an Eliminator, but you know how budgets are.
I
just read the review that BROL gave the Slipstream and I was
disappointed by their look at the bike. Their prejudice to speed
bikes was very evident. I’ve certainly not ridden as many bikes
nor as many miles, but have to say that I’ve also never ridden a
bike that was more comfortable than the Slipstream. I agree with
their statement that your bike is aimed at touring, I just wish they
had given it’s due as an incredibly comfortable bike to ride.
